The hotel is located just twenty miles north of the Golden Gate Bridge into Marin County, California, we are a community of about 700 houses plus some 42 town houses and condominiums from which almost all have direct water fronts. The few that are not directly accessible facades water docks nearby.

Situated caused in and along Novato Creek, this unique development of the creek-side and man-Lagoons have begun in the early sixties, will never be repeated.

Bel Marin Keys is an unincorporated area of Marin with its own Community Services District - the smallest branch of the Marin County Government.

The lagoons occupy about 270 hectares, the fact is each house an average of more than one third of a hectare lagoon has associated with it. No detached houses have more than two adjacent lots.

The lagoons are separated from Novato Creek through large gates enough toSpace for a 50 + ft boat. The creek is a direct connection to the San Pablo Bay, which entered near the mouth of the Petaluma.

Want to be a large boat on the bottom of your garden?

The creek is tidal at suitable for boats up to 45 or so navigable. If you do not navigate the seven seas "pride and joy" 40 footer can sit safely on the bottom of your garden into an essentially tideless environment.

Our neighbors here in the near BMK (as it's known to natives) make way for theFarallones from time to time in its 35 ft cruiser, or even join in the "Ba Ha Ha" - an increasingly popular annual fun cruise on the Baja Peninsula. Another neighbor has an impressive, very chic, 35 ft work boat on his back door.

Water Skiing Anyone?

If you'd rather go water-skiing, how beautiful it is, leave your competition-class ski boat down their boat lift in the lagoon and you'll find at a moment's notice from your own dock in the water on your property! (Yourproperty line is actually quite a few dozen meters from your "beach").

Fishing perhaps?

Maybe you're low on something - like the fishing. Quite a few people to have fun catching (and usually the release) the right-size, striped bass fairly widespread that are in the lagoons. Maybe you want your aluminum dinghy or fishing boat two and a half miles, take the Creek for a spot of striper, sturgeon, flounder or salmon sky at the mouth ofPetaluma River or further in the San Pablo Bay.

"Just Sittin 'on the Dock Of The Bay"?

Well, maybe not to the Bay but you can certainly over the Bay of very few homes of BMK. Just sit on your deck overlooking the hay fields on the 180-degree view from Mt Tam at Hamilton Landing to Richmond to Berkeley to Mt Diablo, the Carquinez Straits, and American Canyon. Have a nice quiet lunch of crab and chardonnay and watch the cargo ships navigate from distant orthe strait.

Bird Watching

Perhaps you'd rather watch quietly abundant bird life (Grey Heron, Lesser and Greater Egrets, Coots, Bufflehead, terns, black-capped night heron, osprey, eagles, gulls, wild ducks, kingfishers, pelicans, cormorants, Canada geese (nesting by the lagoons), grebes , barn owls, great horned owls, various Pipers and more). Please no more than a crowd of those little crazy California Quail who think they can run a car seem outdated.

Listenthe coyotes at night in the hayfields, which is also visited by deer and even the ocCasional jackrabbit. An otter visited us even for a few days. See meteor shower almost as if you lived in the country - away from the lights of the city.
